Sunday, April 22, 2018 is Earth Day!

What better way to celebrate Earth Day than to use a gourd to make a lovely piece of gourd art or something utilitarian like a gourd birdhouse or gourd garden sprinkler?

We'll be at the Carriage House on the grounds of the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley learning new stuff in our workshops. Join us!

Spring Gourd Fling - May 19, 2018

1/2/2018

All the Gourd Patches come together
to start the season!

The Spring Gourd Fling is a chapter event that begins the gourd season for many gourd enthusiasts. Held at the VA State Arboretum on what we hope to be a beautiful spring Saturday in May, the chapter plants a section of the Community Garden as an educational service for interested gardeners to demonstrate the proper way to plant gourd seeds.
VLGS members and nonmember alike are encouraged to participate in this annual opportunity to learn gourd gardening. Afterward, everyone enjoys a bagged lunch with a little something to share in a nearby pavilion followed by a gourd project (project is free for members; small charge for nonmembers).

We meet at the VA State Arboretum on RT. 50, east of Winchester for gourd planting. Everyone welcome! Bring garden gloves, a bagged lunch, and willingness to get a little dirty.

View the brief YouTube video, From Seed to Sell, to get an overview of a year in the life of a gourd enthusiast!
